Alexander Zverev has really struggled in his recent matches against Jannik Sinner.

Zverev has been one of the best clay court players this year, and is the second seed at Roland Garros.

However, one big issue the German continues to have is with Sinner, who has won his last nine matches against Zverev, including four this year.

As Zverev looks to end his losing streak against Sinner at Roland Garros, four-time Grand Slam champion Kim Clijsters has told him he keeps making a mistake with the world number one.

Kim Clijsters suggests the reason why she does not think Alexander Zverev will win Roland Garros

When appearing on Jeu, Set & Podcast, Clijsters was asked to predict the Roland Garros champions this year.

Clijsters backed Coco Gauff to defend her Roland Garros title, before admitting that she had to go with Sinner, despite admitting she wanted to give an answer that was less predictable for the men’s singles tournament.

“I’m going to go with Coco, she’s defending the title,” answered Clijsters. “I don’t want to go with Sinner, because it’s so predictable in a way but yeah.”

Do you really believe that Alexander Zverev can win a Grand Slam title?

When asked if Zverev could challenge Sinner for the Roland Garros title, Clijsters pointed out how his current passive style is contributing to his poor record against the world number one.

“I don’t think he’s aggressive enough, that’s almost the worst tactic against [Sinner], that’s what he loves, ‘I can dictate every shot and every rally’,” said Clijsters.

“He’s trying to come in a little more, to step closer to the baseline a little more, but you can see it’s not in his nature.”

Kim Clijsters admits the ‘question’ she has about Novak Djokovic at Roland Garros

Clijsters was also asked about Novak Djokovic as a potential contender, with the Serbian still hoping to win an elusive 25th Grand Slam title at Roland Garros.

While she suggested that Djokovic is a potential threat to Sinner, Clijsters questioned his fitness given his recent lack of matches.

“Novak, yeah. To me he is the one, but again immediately when I think of Novak…can he get to that point where, he might have to play some tough four setters, some five setters and then come back healthy, and is he capable of doing that for someone who hasn’t played a lot of matches that recently?” questioned Clijsters.

“So that’s then the question too, because he has to be 100% healthy to play against a guy like Sinner, and is he capable of being 100% healthy in the later stages of a Grand Slam these days on a tough physical surface.”

Which player is most likely to stop Jannik Sinner from winning the French Open? 🤔

Sinner is still the player to beat at Roland Garros, and he has been boosted by a number of surprise upsets at Roland Garros, including Daniil Medvedev losing in the first round.

After Sinner won his first round match at Roland Garros, he will now play Juan Manuel Cerundolo, as he hopes to continue his bid to complete the Career Grand Slam.
