The 25-year-old, who starts 2009 ranked 60th in the world, swept aside her Croatian opponent 6-4 6-2 in New Zealand.

She will next face eighth seed Carla Suarez Navarro from Spain, who beat France’s Nathalie Dechy 6-4 6-0.
