Ahead of the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, British number two Katie Boulter has reflected on her most treasured match of 2025.

Under the tutelage of Captain Anne Keothavong, Katie Boulter and her teammates will carry the hopes of Great Britain during their Billie Jean King Cup [BJK Cup] quarter-final match.

The team will be without star player Emma Raducanu, but this will not prevent the remaining players from dreaming about a potential first BJK Cup title in the country’s history.

Boulter, 29, has played 33 matches on the WTA Tour this season, in addition to her appearances in BJK Cup matches.

Boulter, speaking ahead of Britain’s BJK Cup clash against Japan on Thursday, has named her favourite match of 2025 so far.

Katie Boulter picks the BJK Cup doubles decider against The Netherlands

During the BJK Cup qualifiers earlier this season, Great Britain faced off against the Netherlands in the final qualifying round.

After splitting two singles matches, Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage were called upon for the deciding doubles contest, a match which could prove to be the defining moment in Great Britain’s BJK Cup campaign.

Boulter and Burrage refused to let the occasion affect them, waltzing to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Suzan Lamens and Demi Schuurs.

Speaking to the Lawn Tennis Association, Boulter explained why this match is her favourite of the year so far, highlighting the emotional element of the occasion.

She said: “That was a definite highlight of my year so far,” she said. “I think I’ve watched the highlights of that match eight or nine times, I would say.

“It brings so many emotions, the way we did it and the trust the team put in us to get it over the line. I was coming off the back of losing the singles and only had a 15-minute turnaround, which was difficult.

“To show face and lead the team made it sweeter in a way.

“I was really proud and had so many emotions doing it with one of my closest friends in Jodie. It was her first win for her country, and it was truly special.”

How did Great Britain fare last year?

Great Britain have not reached the BJK Cup Final since 1981.

In 2024, the team came incredibly close to shattering that unfortunate statistic, reaching the semi-final stage.

In fact, the British squad came within one set of reaching the final.

Emma Raducanu defeated Viktoria Hruncakova to propel Great Britain into the lead against Slovakia, before Katie Boulter took a one-set lead against Rebecca Sramkova.

Unfortunately for British fans, Boulter was unable to close out the match, eventually losing 6-2, 4-6, 4-6.
