What happened in Joao Fonseca’s only previous match against Jakub Mensik?

Fonseca will now look to continue his breakthrough run at Roland Garros in the quarterfinals, where he will play 20-year-old Jakub Mensik.

Mensik beat Andrey Rublev in five sets to reach his first major quarterfinal, and now one of him and Fonseca will be a Grand Slam semifinalist for the first time.

This will be just a second meeting between Fonseca and Mensik, with their only previous encounter taking place at the Next Gen ATP Finals in 2024.

How many Grand Slam titles will Joao Fonseca win in his career?

What a match!

Fonseca beat Mensik 3(4)-4, 4-3(8), 4-3(5), 3(4)-4, 4-3(5) in a close-fought five set match using a shorter scoring format at the Next Gen ATP Finals, where he went on to win the title that year.

The Brazilian will be hoping to do the same again when he plays Mensik for a place in the Roland Garros semifinals on Tuesday, June 2.
