Jannik Sinner’s partnership with Darren Cahill is on track to be one of the most successful in tennis history.

Sinner’s Sunshine Double victory was his seventh ATP 1000 win and he’s already collected four Grand Slam titles under the Australian coach’s watchful eye.

Cahill had been rumoured to step down from his role with Sinner at the end of the 2025 season, but the Italian reportedly convinced him to stay on for another year.

Now, the Italian has provided an update on Cahill’s current status as the world number one’s coach.

“After the ATP Finals we had a nice chat. We discussed things in general, we took a step forward, and things were favourable for me.

“I’m glad that he can stay for another year, it’s very important at the level I’m at now. The combination between him and Simone (Vagnozzi) is an excellent one.

“They get along very well, they have a lot of trust in each other. The decision to stay with me is a very good one.”

Cahill previously worked with Amanda Anisimova and Simona Halep prior to joining the Italian’s team in 2022.

For Sinner, the opportunity to play alongside the recently retired star was one that proved very fruitful.

He said: “It was wonderful, full of emotions because I haven’t seen her very often on the circuit. Talking to her helped me a lot, to figure out how to manage certain things. On the court she’s wonderful, a great champion! It was a very nice moment. Thank you!”

Halep’s sessions with Sinner have helped the Italian win two tournaments already in 2026 ahead of the clay court swing.
