Remarkably, Sinner is also the first player in tennis history to complete the Sunshine Double without dropping a single set.

Djokovic, meanwhile, won four consecutive Masters 1000 titles on two separate occasions.

Djokovic first won four in a row from 2014 to 2015, winning the Paris Masters, Indian Wells, Miami and Monte-Carlo.

A year later he achieved the same feat, winning in Shanghai, Paris, Indian Wells and Miami.

The first male player to complete the Sunshine Double

In 1991, Jim Courier became the first male player to complete the Sunshine Double.

Courier first won Indian Wells, defeating Guy Forget 4–6, 6–3, 4–6, 6–3, 7–6 in the final.

Later that same month, Courier completed the historic feat after beating compatriot David Wheaton in the Miami Open final.

A year later, Michael Chang became the second player to complete the Sunshine Double.

Six more players have completed the feat since, including Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

Sinner, the eighth to accomplish the feat, is not the only player to have made history in America.

Aryna Sabalenka won the Sunshine Double in women’s singles, while Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova did so in the women’s doubles format.
