Jannik Sinner is a player who, when on form and at his very best, cannot be stopped.

However, over his entire career, the Italian has been highly susceptible to the elements, having played a huge role in some of his most crushing moments over recent years.

This year’s Roland Garros exit still lives painfully fresh in the memory, and with temperatures only rising across the globe, such conditions are expected to only become more and more prevalent.

That is why the Wimbledon weather report is of such huge interest, as he seeks to defend his title.

Jannik Sinner told there is set to be a heat wave at Wimbledon

Following his press conference last night after beating Shintaro Mochizuki in straight sets, the Italian was asked what he saw as his biggest risk in the coming matches.

Jannik Sinner admitted: “I don’t know. There is not a rule. I think most important is to stay with a good mentality and right attitude on court.

“Of course, the stages are getting bigger, more important, as we know. There is more attention on every detail. We try to prepare each match as the most important, then we see.

“I’m trying to control whatever we can control, then the rest trying to solve the problem.”

Then, when told about reports of an incoming heat wave set to hit the All England Club, he reacted: “It seems you know the schedule better than me. I don’t know when they put me. But I’m happy either way. I feel I’m well-prepared. We did a good preparation.

“Whatever happened in the past, it’s gone already. Now we see if we found a solution. If not, we keep working for the next one.

“But in any case, quarterfinal of a Grand Slam, the feelings are different. There is definitely more tension. In the same time, I’m very happy where I am at the moment. Then we see how it goes. Let’s see.”

Sinner claimed he has made changes to his game off the back of that Roland Garros exit. Now is the time to prove it.

What is the weather forecast for Wimbledon this week?

The weather has been sunny and relatively hot throughout the first week, but those temperatures are set to soar in the coming days.

And whilst not quite reaching the highs of the 34 degrees Celsius we saw at Roland Garros, it will still cause trouble.

Especially given that, as any Englishman will tell you, the heat in this country feels different. Harsher.

BBC weather suggests that today will see highs of 32 degrees Celsius, set to be matched again on Wednesday. Then, Thursday will see those temperatures climb to 33 degrees Celsius.

When has Jannik Sinner struggled in the heat?

There is a reason why there is so much interest around the weather and Sinner.

After all, he has struggled often in hot conditions in the past, with this year’s Roland Garros the shining example.

There, he led by two sets to love, set to maintain his straightforward march towards a title everyone thought was a foregone conclusion.

However, from 5-2 up in the third set, Sinner fell apart. He went on to lose in five sets, stunning the tennis world.

Sinner did argue that the heat did not cost him that match, but few seem to believe him.

Other notable examples were the 2025 Cincinnati Open final, where he retired against Carlos Alcaraz, the 2025 Shanghai Masters, where he wilted against Tallon Griekspoor, and the 2023 US Open, where he lost in five sets to Alexander Zverev.
