Jannik Sinner will head to Wimbledon as the overwhelming favourite to win the title, but we all saw how that panned out at Roland Garros.
Completely blindsided by the brutal Parisian heat, the Italian crumbled in one of the most spectacular collapses in recent memory, losing in just the second round and paving the way for Alexander Zverev to claim his maiden major title.
He will hope to ensure that something similar does not happen at the All England Club and has reportedly made the necessary changes to prevent it.
Jannik Sinner delivers an update on his fitness ahead of Wimbledon
Speaking earlier this week after his exhibition match at the Hurlingham Club, which marked his only grass-court match before Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner revealed that he and his team had made wholesale changes off the back of that Roland Garros disaster.
“We did some testing,” he revealed. “We tried to understand what happened, we came to a conclusion which is very good. So we worked very much, we changed the work a little bit as well, trying to see how my body reacts in different conditions.

“We’ve made some changes in the practice; we made some changes in all other things.”
Then, discussing the conditions, having beaten Cam Norrie 6-3, 6-3 in what was the warmest June day on record in the UK, Sinner added: “Today, was no wind at all, so it was maybe even warmer, but it’s good. That’s exactly what I need, a good preparation before starting the tournament.
“In future, we will always try to practice where the warmer conditions could be, because I feel like every tournament is getting warmer and warmer every year, so it’s going to be important, but we did a lot of work, and today was a good preparation.”
Sinner gave the real reason why he thought he lost at Roland Garros, insisting it was not the heat. However, these changes perhaps suggest otherwise.
Darren Cahill reveals what Jannik Sinner is really like off the court
Speaking to the BBC recently, Darren Cahill has been partaking in the build-up to Sinner’s first-ever title defence at Wimbledon.
And, with Carlos Alcaraz having withdrawn from the event already, it’s expected that it should be a much easier task.
Do you think Jannik Sinner could really win all 9 Masters 1000 events in 2026?
That being said, people were arguing the same about Roland Garros.
Cahill, discussing what Sinner is really like off court, admitted: “Jannik is basically a good guy, a person with great values.
“He always has a smile on his face and loves to have fun, joke in company and make the people around him feel good. The person you see on the field is not the one of everyday life.”
