Jannik Sinner will continue his Monte Carlo campaign on Thursday against either Francisco Cerundolo or Tomas Machac.

The Italian, who could reclaim the world number one spot from Carlos Alcaraz this week, defeated Ugo Humbert 6-3, 6-0 in his opening Monte Carlo match on Tuesday.

Sinner appears to have carried his form from the American swing into Monte Carlo, as demonstrated by the 24-year-old winning 91 per cent of his first serve points against Humbert.

Will Jannik Sinner overtake Carlos Alcaraz and become world number one? 🤔

Ahead of his third-round match in Monaco, Sinner has stepped onto the practice courts at the Monegasque event.

And he has been joined by a player who could challenge Carlos Alcaraz and the Italian’s dominance on the ATP Tour.

Jannik Sinner practices with Moise Kouame in Monte Carlo

On Wednesday afternoon, Sinner and 17-year-old French prodigy Moise Kouame practiced together for the best part of an hour.

During the session, the pair worked on their cross-court forehands and backhands, before testing their volleys.

The pair then worked on their serve and return games, before the young Frenchman left the court.

Sinner then continued to work on his serve, before finishing the session by practising his drop shots.

As for Kouame, he has already exited the Monte Carlo Masters.

The 17-year-old, who is widely considered to be a future star on the ATP Tour, lost his first round match in Monaco to countryman Ugo Humbert.

Last month, Kouame became the youngest male player to win a match in Miami and the youngest to claim an ATP Masters 1000 victory since Rafael Nadal in 2003.

Moise Kouame credits mother as one of his ‘biggest inspirations’

Kouame, who practised with 39-year-old Gael Monfils ahead of Monte Carlo, paid tribute to his family ahead of the event.

“My mom has also been one of the biggest inspirations in life for me,” he said, as per the Monte Carlo Masters website.

“She has been through difficult situations and now she’s here in Monte Carlo with her son playing one of the biggest tournaments on the calendar.
