Jannik Sinner has landed at the Vienna Open and he’s already enlisted a practice partner ahead of the tournament.
Sinner will play Daniel Altmaier in Vienna, which will be his first ATP match since he retired from the Shanghai Masters.
The World No. 2 has played high-profile tennis between the events, of course, with Sinner winning the Six Kings Slam against Carlos Alcaraz.
Sinner will feature as the top seed at the Vienna Open and he’s been spotted practicing with a former top 20 player at the event.

Jannik Sinner practices with Francisco Cerúndolo in Vienna
Sinner is the favourite to win the Vienna Open and it is the Italian’s first chance of ATP silverware since Wimbledon in the summer.
Ahead of his match with Altmaier, who famously knocked him out of Roland Garros in 2023, the star has been practicing with Francisco Cerúndolo.
Cerúndolo also has a tricky first-round task at the Vienna Open as he plays European Open semi-finalist Alex Michelsen at the indoor event.
The current World No. 21 is a credible threat on the ATP Tour, having picked up three trophies in his career.
The star has even come up against Sinner on five occasions and he has a surprisingly good record against the four-time Grand Slam champion.
Jannik Sinner and Francisco Cerúndolo’s head-to-head record
Sinner has a positive record against Cerúndolo, but he’s still tasted defeat on two occasions against the Argentine.
Cerúndolo has knocked Sinner out of two ATP 1000 events, at the Miami Open in 2022 and the Rome Open in 2023.
Sinner has picked up a win against Cerúndolo at the Vienna Open, as well as in the Davis Cup and the Rome Open.
Their last meeting came during clay court season earlier this year, which Sinner won in the round of 16 in Rome.
