Jamie Murray takes to Twitter with heartfelt message as partnership ends

Sir Andy Murray’s Grand Slam winning brother Jamie has announced the end of his doubles partnership by recalling all their succesful moments over the past few years

Murray has played his last match with long term Brazilian double partner Bruno Soares after they announced they will not be playing doubles together any more after the French Open.

Unfortunately the partnership ended with a loss in the first round of this year’s Roland Garros mens doubles but Murray has chosen to celebrate some of the great moments they had together by tweeting a picture showing some of their greatest moments. Murray and Soares were seeded No.2 in Paris but lost in 3 sets to Italian young pairing of Sonego and Berrettini.

Murray and Soares teamed up in 2016 and won two Grand slam doubles events that year at the Australian open and the US Open. They then went on to win another 8 titles in the following years bringing their total number of titles together to 10.

It was thought that Murray might play the Wimbledon doubles with his brother andy but that now seems unlikely with fellow Brit Ken Skupski thought to be the most likely new partner for Jamie.

Jamie has been ranked as high as no.1 in the world for doubles but right now he’s ranked no.8 in the world for doubles.

British mens doubles is in the middle of a golden era with no fewer than 9 players in the mens doubles draw at Roland Garros whereas there were only 3 players from Britain in the mens singles this year.
