Jack Draper explains why he’s playing the UTS Grand Finals
Draper has been given a tricky UTS Finals group that includes David Goffin, Francisco Cerundolo, and Casper Ruud.
Speaking to the UTS Tour’s official Instagram page, he explained his reasoning behind signing up for the exhibition competition.
The British number one explained: “I feel very ready. I’m looking forward to competing again. It’s been a long time.
“That’s the main thing, I love competing, so to be able to get the chance before the next season to get out there, especially in London, get used to competing again and get my eye in. It’s going to be good fun.”
Draper has also confirmed his attendance at the Auckland Open ahead of the Australian Open, where he will be making his Grand Slam return.
What Jack Draper said about his last appearance at the UTS Grand Finals
Draper’s win at the UTS Grand Finals in 2023 became a defining moment of his career and helped him truly tackle the ATP Tour in 2024 and 2025.
Draper defeated the likes of Holger Rune, Alexander Bublik, and Gael Monfils to lift the trophy in front of a hometown crowd.
Speaking about the event with Tennis Majors, he said: “UTS was a great springboard. Being in London with a home crowd and my coach on court was fantastic. It gave me confidence going into 2024.
“It was a different vibe, playing with some great players. There’s so much going in a UTS match, it demands a lot mentally and physically. My breathing was trying to keep up with my mind’s pace.”
Draper has not played the event since lifting the trophy at the London event in 2023.
