‘It’s going to be a great week’ – Alexander Zverev secures ATP Finals qualification
World number four Alexander Zverev has secured his place in the year-ending ATP Finals after reaching the third round at Indian Wells.
The German star dispatched Jenson Brooskby in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 to take him over the threshold for the number of ranking points required to feature in the prestigious event.
It will be the fifth year in succession Zverev has qualified and he became the third German star to lift the title in 2018 after Boris Becker and Michael Stich.
Unlike previous events which have been held in the English capital, this year’s edition will be held in Turin, Italy, a country where Zverev has had prior success.
“My first time in Turin. I’ve been to London four times before. London is obviously very special to me because I won there, as well. I think the stadium is incredible, one of the most special events that we had,” Zverev told reporters on Sunday.
“But I also love playing in Italy. I had great success in Italy. I won my first Masters in Rome. I’m looking forward to being there. I’m looking forward to playing in front of the Italian fans. It’s going to be a great week.”

The 24-year-old has enjoyed great success in 2021, winning two Masters 1000 titles, one ATP 500 event in Mexico and a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Zverev will now face Andy Murray at Indian Wells for a place in the fourth-round.
