‘It’s a great moment’ – Jannik Sinner claims milestone win in Madrid

Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner has racked up a century of wins on the ATP circuit after securing a spot in the last 16 at the Madrid Masters.

The world number 12 claimed his maiden tour-level victory back in April 2019, defeating Mate Valkusz in Budapest.

Ever since that victory Sinner has not looked back as he went on to capture the 2019 Next Gen ATP Finals crown, five ATP Tour titles and was able to crack the Top 10.

His last title came in October 2021 as he won the European Open in Antwerp as the top seed without losing a set.

It has been a remarkable rise for Jannik Sinner, who on Wednesday, earned his 100th tour-level win as he brushed aside Australia’s Alex de Minaur 6-4, 6-1 to reach the last 16 in the Spanish capital.

Speaking of his victory and reaching 100 tour-level career wins, he said he was proud of himself but believes there is plenty more to come.

In a recent interview, Sinner told reporters, “I have gone my own way. I remember the first win and now I am here at 100 wins.

“I hope for more as I am working for that and I just love to play tennis. Every match you win is a great moment.

“When you win a tournament, it is very special. The first tournament I won in Sofia was very special. Also Next Gen and in Washington, winning an ATP 500 was special. There are also specific matches that are very special and I can be proud of myself. But I will work harder every day.”
