Alexander Zverev roars at ATP Finals 2019

“It shows I can beat the top players” Alexander Zverev identifies key success factor after stunning victory over Nadal

Alexander Zverev continued his incredible run of form at the ATP Finals yesterday and immediately highlighted the style of play that has helped him beat the Big 3 of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic

Alexander Zverev says that he’s at his most effective when playing aggressively especially when facing the three greatest players of all time, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal.

Zverev was speaking after his impressive two set victory over Spanish great Rafa Nadal at London’s iconic O2 arena.

Zverev said, “I think he was serving actually pretty well today. I didn’t see massive difference there…when I play this aggressive tennis, when I play this way, I have now beaten all three guys on this court, big 3, so it shows that I can play very well and beat the top players.”

Alexander Zverev beat Rafa Nadal 6-2, 6-4 in his first match of the round robin stage of the ATP finals. Last year Zverev was crowned champion including victories over Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

Zverev won 76% of his service points and 45% of his return points compared to Nadal’s 55% and 24% respectively. The young German star will now play fellow ‘Next Gen’ graduates Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev with only two players able to make their way through the round robin stage into the lucrative semi finals.
