Rafa Nadal French Open 2022

“It all depends on Rafa” – Nadal French Open final strategy detailed by renowned commentator

Rafa Nadal has the chance to make history (again) at the French Open but only if he can devise a strategy to overcome a young, talented but potentially nervous Norwegian in Casper Ruud, according to this vastly experienced coach and player.

Rafa Nadal should stay very deep when returning serve, look to hit lots of topspin onto the forehand wing of Casper Rudd and be prepared for a long match.

That’s the analysis of Eurosport commentator Alex Corretja as he highlights the key factors that could decided the 2022 French Open men’s singles final.

Corretja was speaking ahead of the classic match up between experienced but ageing legend and young pretender with zero experience in these situations. He said,

“If I am Rafa I am going to try and open up into Casper’s forehand because then he can find his backhand. If I am Rafa I would stay far back and on the return give a little bit of height. Rafa will know it is going to be a long match because Casper is a clay court specialist. But at the end of the day, it will all depend on Rafa because he is a 13-time champion. Perhaps Casper will be a little nervous.”
