The American committed several errors but his outstanding serves saw him to a 6-3 5-7 7-6 (7/2) victory.

It was the errors that allowed Frenchman Clement to take the final set to a tie-break.

The maiden title completes a rapid rise up the rankings for Isner, who has climbed more than 100 places to start the week at 33 in the world.
