Nadal's bid to win an unprecendented 10th title at Roland Garros was stalled in the quarter-finals by world No.1 Novak Djokovic, who ended the Spaniard's 39-match winning streak in Paris with a 7-5 6-3 6-1 victory.
The Serb, who will face Andy Murray in the semi-finals, is bidding to complete his career Grand Slam by adding the French Open crown to his five Australian Open titles, two Wimbledon crowns and 2011 US Open victory.
But Nadal, who failed to win a title during the European clay swing for the first time since 2004, is determined to win a 10th title next year.
"I accept the defeats and there is only one sure thing: I want to work harder even than before to come back stronger," Nadal said. "I am going to fight. I lost in 2009 and it was not the end. I lost in 2015 and it is not the end. I hope to be back here next year with another chance."
