Iga Swiatek replaced Wim Fissette with Francisco Roig ahead of the clay-court season.
She’ll play her first tournament with Roig as her coach in Stuttgart, where she will compete as the third seed.
How many Grand Slam titles will Iga Swiatek win with Francisco Roig as her coach?
She's signed one of the best coaches on tour!
Results are important, but at this early stage, it’s more about establishing a healthy working relationship between player and coach.
But how easy is it to get along with Swiatek, and what is she really like behind the scenes?
Iga Swiatek’s former manager Paulina Wojtowicz says she is a ‘demanding boss’ but is ‘very humble’
During an interview with ‘Sport.Pl‘, Swiatek’s former manager, Paulina Wojtowicz, opened up about her working relationship with the six-time Grand Slam champion.
“I think Iga [Swiatek] gave me more than I gave her,” Wojtowicz admitted.

“But when no one else was around, and those big agencies refused to work with her, I was there for those problems and difficult moments.
“Working with Iga is a project I’ll be proud of for the rest of my life.”
Wojtowicz continued, explaining how ‘humble’ Swiatek is.
“She was always very humble. She didn’t fully realize how big a brand she was,” said Wojtowicz.
“I remember when I told her Bill Gates was at her match.
“She didn’t believe me.”
Wojtowicz then named the two members of Swiatek’s team she believes will stay with her for the rest of her career.
“Iga always makes the final decisions,” she said.
“She’s a demanding boss, but she has people she trusts.

“I think two of them could stay with her for the rest of her career.
“They’re Daria Abramowicz and Maciej Ryszczuk.”
Maciej Ryszczuk is Swiatek’s strength and conditioning coach, and Daria Abramowicz is her psychologist.
Abramowicz has been the subject of criticism lately, as many fans and pundits believe she should have left the team with Fissette.
After her split from Fissette, Swiatek’s former coach made his feelings on Abramowicz clear.
“Both [Tomasz] Wiktorowski and [Wim] Fissette corrected certain things for Iga, but as soon as they left, Daria [Abramowicz] would tell Iga, ‘Play it your way,’ and she did just that,” said Artur Szostaczko.
“She should resign, but she won’t. She’s untouchable.”
Szostaczko isn’t a fan of Abramowicz, but it doesn’t sound like she is going anywhere.
Wojtowicz didn’t have anything bad to say about Abramowicz or Swiatek, and questioned why she is being ‘attacked’.
“She needs support right now. And I feel like she’s lacking it,” she said.
“We forget that she’s won six Grand Slams.

“I don’t understand why some people are attacking her right now…”
Swiatek is indeed a six-time major champion and is an Australian Open title away from completing the Career Grand Slam.
A feat just 10 women have accomplished.

While Swiatek would love nothing more than to join that list next January, she has work to do before then.
There are three Grand Slams to play before the 2027 Australian Open, and first up is Roland Garros.
Is Iga Swiatek the favourite to win the French Open?
Swiatek is a four-time French Open champion and has, by far, the greatest clay-court record of any active WTA player.
But there’s a good chance that when she arrives in Paris, she will do so as the third or fourth favourite to lift the title.
That speaks volumes about her struggles on clay last year, where she failed to win a title on the surface for the first time since 2019.
It also highlights the improvements of some of her greatest rivals.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka came mightily close to winning her first French Open a year ago, and beat Swiatek in the semi-finals.

And Coco Gauff won the title, finally proving herself on the clay after losing several WTA 1000 finals.
The likes of Elena Rybakina, Mirra Andreeva, and Jessica Pegula are also worth a mention, and shouldn’t be overlooked at all.
Still, if Swiatek can find her rhythm with Roig in her corner, there is no reason why she can’t take home her fifth French Open title this June.
First, she will play the Stuttgart Open in Germany.
Swiatek will play Laura Siegemund in her opening match on Wednesday, April 15.
