Iga Swiatek has already announced what she plans to do in 2026, and it could see her fined by the WTA Tour.

Swiatek has arrived at the WTA Finals as she looks to win the year-end trophy for the first time in two years.

The star has impressed yet again in 2025, which peaked with her maiden Wimbledon crown, and she will be looking to dethrone Aryna Sabalenka from the top spot of the rankings in 2026.

Swiatek has shared details of what she wants to do with her schedule for her 2026 season, and it’s a move that likely won’t go down well with the WTA.

Iga Swiatek announces schedule plan for 2026 season

Swiatek has shared what she plans to do with her tennis schedule in 2026, and it is bound to make the WTA unhappy.

Speaking at the WTA Finals press conference, as reported by Polish outlet Sportowe Fakty, the World No. 2 said: “I won’t be looking next year at which tournaments are mandatory and which ones I could get fined for.”

The star is adamant she will select her schedule on her own terms despite pressure from the WTA Tour to play 500 events.

“I’ll arrange my schedule the way I think it should be,” she added. “We’ll see if I’ll be mentally okay with skipping tournaments while the other girls are playing.”

Swiatek was deducted points by the WTA for skipping multiple 500 events in 2025, but it appears she will continue to follow her own rules next season.

Which WTA 500 events did Iga Swiatek miss in 2025?

Swiatek played three 500 tournaments in 2025, which is three less than the mandatory six that the WTA has set.

The Pole missed tournaments in Brisbane, Adelaide, Linz, Abu Dhabi, Merida, Charleston, Strasbourg, Berlin, Washington, Monterrey, and Guadalajara.

Swiatek played 500 tournaments in Stuttgart, Bad Homburg, and Korea, the latter of which saw her lift the trophy.

With her latest announcement, it appears the World No. 2 will continue to follow the trend she started this season.
