“I want to apologise to everyone who was offended” – Spanish star responds after ‘out of context’ quarantine meltdown comments


Robert Bautista Agut defends ‘complete disaster’ video comments and make public apology

Wimbledon semi-finalist and Spanish no.2 Robert Bautista-Agut has had to publish a humbling letter of apology after a private video was leaked to the press.

In the video Bautista Agut was heard commenting that “These people have no idea about tennis, about practice courts, no idea about anything. It’s a complete disaster because of that, because of the control of everything. It’s not Tennis Australia, it’s the people from the government,”

The Spanish star is currently quarantining in a Melbourne hotel along with scores of other tennis players and support staff after numerous flights into the city were found to have included passengers carry the COVID virus.

In his apology published on his social media profiles the Spaniard says he wants to apologise for any offence caused and the comments were made during a private conversation which he had no idea would then be leaked. e says he is following all the COVID quarantine protocols and wants to thanks everyone who is working hard to make tennis possible again.
