‘I really want to play!’ – Rafael Nadal confirms return from injury in time for Roland Garros
Rafael Nadal has confirmed he will make his return from injury at the Madrid Masters next week.
Nadal started the season in scintillating form, winning the Melbourne Summer Set, the Australian Open, and Acapulco.
He then reached the final of Indian Wells before succumbing to a fractured fib in his semi-final against compatriot Carlos Alcaraz.
That forced him off the ATP Tour for a number of weeks while he recovered, but he now appears ready to get his clay season going.
“Despite arriving just before preparation and being difficult, I really want to play and play at home since the opportunities are few,” Nadal said via his Twitter account.
“I’ll try to do it in the best possible way. See you in Madrid.”

No man has won the Madrid Masters more than Rafael Nadal, but the last of his five successes there came five years ago.
Last season he was beaten in the quarter-finals by eventual winner Alexander Zverev, so there will be ranking points available to Nadal if he can put together a deep run.
Should it go well, Nadal will then look to the Rome Masters before Roland Garros at the end of May.
