After Tuesday’s loss to Lorenzo Musetti, Alex de Minaur has now failed to defeat top-10 opponents in 16 consecutive matches.
The Australian, who has never won a match at the ATP Finals, was defeated by Italian eighth seed Lorenzo Musetti 7-5, 3-6, 7-5.
After the match, a jubilant Musetti took in the applause of the Turin crowd, while de Minaur was left to rue his missed opportunities.

De Minaur will face Taylor Fritz in his final round robin match, needing a victory to give himself a small chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.
As for de Minaur’s recent 0-16 record against top 10 players, this is something he clearly needs to focus on moving forward following his losses to Carlos Alcaraz and Lorenzo Musetti in Turin.
It has been over a year since de Minaur last defeated a top 10 opponent. This result occurred at the 2024 French Open.
When Alex de Minaur defeated Daniil Medvedev at the 2024 French Open
Alex de Minaur’s last victory against a top 10 player came at the 2024 French Open against fifth seed Daniil Medvedev.

De Minaur, who defeated Medvedev 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-3, became the first Australian man to reach the French Open quarter-finals since Lleyton Hewitt in 2004.
Before facing the Russian, de Minaur had beaten Alex Michelsen, Jaume Munar and Jan-Lennard Struff.
As reported by the ATP Tour, de Minaur – world number 11 at the time – noted his poor previous results on the clay after defeating Medvedev, while also thanking the crowd.
He said: “I want to say thank you to everyone.
“It’s an incredible atmosphere. For me, I didn’t hope to be here in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros because me, on terre battue (clay), I didn’t play very well in the past years.”
In the next round, de Minaur lost to fourth seed Alexander Zverev: 4-6, 6-7, 4-6.

The Russian, seeded fourth, defeated de Minaur 6-2, 6-4 in the round robin stage of the 2024 ATP Finals.
In 2025, de Minaur defeated then world number 11 Medvedev 6-2, 6-2 at the Monte-Carlo Masters.
One month ago, at the Shanghai Masters, Medvedev again defeated de Minaur. The Russian beat the ‘Demon’ 6-4, 6-4 in the quarter-finals.
