Arthur Fils and Goran Ivanisevic’s brand-new collaboration has already shown signs of promise in the 2026 season.
The Frenchman added the former Wimbledon winner to his team at the Qatar Open and he has already reached an ATP final and the semi-finals of the Miami Open.
Fils is an incredibly exciting prospect on the ATP Tour and he’s often been named as an outside shot to break up the Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner duopoly.
After a month of their partnership, Ivanisevic has predicted how high Fils can be ranked in the ATP Tour rankings.

Goran Ivanisevic heaps praise on Arthur Fils’ level
Following spells with Elena Rybakina and Stefanos Tsitsipas, it was a no-brainer for Ivanisevic when it came to working with Fils.
Speaking to SportKlub, the Croatian said: “Arthur is one of the most talented young players. Before his injury, he was world No. 14. Unfortunately, he was out of competition for seven months, but he is part of the future of tennis.”
Who wins Sunday’s Miami Open final?
Ivanisevic believes Fils has all the capabilities of becoming a top five player on the ATP Tour, although he did not put a date on when the Frenchman can make that jump.
“I see him among the top five. He has extraordinary quality. There is no pressure on when he will accomplish it, but I believe it will be soon.
“It is a project that excites me because I have always wanted to work with young players. I find his game very interesting; there are still areas to improve, but the overall balance is very positive.”
Fils currently sits at world number 28 in the rankings following his first five tournaments of the year.
Arthur Fils’ record since his return from injury
Fils made his return in Montpellier after seven months away and it didn’t take him long to find the form that saw him reach the cusp of the top 10 in 2025.
The Frenchman has notched up a 13-5 record in his first five tournaments, which includes impressive victories against Jiri Lehecka, Jakub Mensik, and Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Before his defeat to Lehecka in Miami, Fils had only been beaten by top 10 players, with Alcaraz, Alex de Minaur, Auger-Aliassime, and Alexander Zverev capturing the victory against him.
It’s clear that Fils is already far too good for his current ranking and a surge will surely come in the next few months.
Fils is defending quarter-final points at the Madrid Open and semi-final points at the Barcelona Open, so he will need to perform well on the clay in order to climb the rankings.
