Writing on Instagram, Cobolli said: “What a day! Happy for this victory in the Davis Cup and even happier because Italy is in the semi-finals.
Cobolli and Italy will play Belgium in the semi-finals and he’s sent a rallying call to his nation. “Proud of this team, the spirit and energy that unites us. Way to go boys… Let’s go Blues!”
The Italians will play a Belgian team made up of Raphaël Collignon, Bergs, and doubles players Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen.
Who could Italy play in the final of the Davis Cup?
Even without Sinner and Musetti, Italy look like strong favourite to retain their title for a third consecutive year.
However, there are a number of teams who could be a real challenge for the likes of Cobolli, Matteo Berrettini, and Lorenzo Sonego.
Czech Republic, bolstered with young guns Jakub Mensik and Jiri Lehecka look an incredibly strong team this year.
Additionally, world number two Alexander Zverev could be a real threat for Germany in his first-ever Davis Cup Finals appearance.
Czech Republic play Spain in the quarter-finals, while Germany will line up against Argentina in the last eight.
