Ferrer coasts into second round

The fourth-seeded Ferrer kicked off the year’s final grand slam with a 7-6 (7-1) 6-2 6-2 victory over Martin Vassallo Arguello in a first-round match on Monday.

The Spaniard will face the winner of the first round clash between Andreas Beck and John Isner next.
