Felix Auger-Aliassime has reacted on social media for the first time since losing to Jannik Sinner in the US Open semi-finals.
It had been a remarkable tournament for the Canadian, who was storming through the draw until he met the world number one.
And whilst few gave him a chance, he defied the odds just by competing throughout, and even stole a set from him.
In the end, he did not have enough to truly test Jannik Sinner’s resolve, but he should be so proud of the last two weeks.
He has now taken to X to review his performance at the US Open, whilst also sending a message to the defending champion.
Felix Auger-Aliassime reacts after losing to Jannik Sinner at the US Open
Reacting after what he described as an ‘Incredible week’, Auger-Aliassime was keen to thank the crowd for adopting him during the event.
After all, they backed him with each win he claimed, as his momentum only increased.
Frustratingly, Sinner was too good on Friday, but given he managed to get just two games from him in Cincinnati just last month, the strides made in just a few weeks were startling.
He clearly acknowledged this, whilst also admitting that the Italian was just so impressive.
The 24-year-old wrote: “Incredible week reconnecting with the belief that has always been there and starting to see the pay off of the work being put in all year. Congrats to Jannik for continuing to set the bar higher and higher.
“Thank you NYC for the overwhelming support I’ve received throughout the tournament, it’s only fueled my hunger to put myself back in these situations again and again.”
Darren Cahill has since revealed how Sinner is feeling ahead of the US Open final, offering a crucial insight ahead of the last major showdown of the year.
Felix Auger-Aliassime reminds the world that he is here to compete
As a US Open semi-finalist back in YEAR, Auger-Aliassime clearly has the pedigree to go deep in Grand Slams.
However, for so many reasons, he has been unable to recapture that form which saw many laud him as the next big thing in tennis.
That was what made this particular run so refreshing, as he shocked the world on his way to the semi-final, beating two top-ten opponents on his way to that stage.
Breezing through the opening two rounds without dropping a set, Auger-Aliassime claimed the biggest triumph of his campaign by knocking out the third seed Alexander Zverev, coming from a set down to win.

He followed that up with a comprehensive victory over Andrey Rublev, before then outlasting Alex de Minaur in the quarter-finals, again coming from a set down.
It has been a remarkable tournament for Auger-Aliassime, and hopefully the wait for another run like this will not be as long as the last.
