Felix Auger-Aliassime could be at risk of suffering another early Grand Slam exit at the French Open this year.

Auger-Aliassime is the current world number five, but as a result of Carlos Alcaraz’s withdrawal from the tournament he is the fourth seed at the French Open this year.

Despite his seeding at the Paris major, Auger-Aliassime has struggled for form during the clay court season, winning just four of his eight matches.

As a result, Auger-Aliassime was put on upset alert after the draw for this year’s French Open was made.

Felix Auger-Aliassime predicted to lose early at the French Open

When reacting to this year’s French Open draw on The Big T Podcast, both former ATP player Nick Monroe and Coco Gauff’s former coach Brad Gilbert agreed that Auger-Aliassime was the most at risk of losing in the first three rounds out of the top four seeds

Auger-Aliassime has been drawn to play against German player Daniel Altmaier, who was involved in controversy in Hamburg, and has previously beaten Taylor Fritz and Jannik Sinner at the French Open.

“I’m going to go FAA [Auger-Aliassime],” began Monroe. “I mean he’s playing Daniel Altmaier in the first round and Daniel Altmaier is a guy that’s really good on the dirt and then if he wins that, Sebastian Baez who is a really tough out on the dirt as well.”

Gilbert responded by pointing out the recent issues Auger-Aliassime has had with cramping, having retired at the Australian Open and struggled at the Italian Open with it as well.

He said, “I got the same FAA and he struggles in the heat, hasn’t he had some cramping issues?

Monroe then added, “Big time. He cramped in Rome against Navone and he cramped at the Australian Open as well, so it’s been an issue for him.”

Auger-Aliassime will not be encouraged by the weather forecast for the opening days of the French Open, with temperatures predicted to be over 30 degrees Celsius in Paris (above 86 degrees Fahrenheit).

Who will win this year’s French Open?

The second Slam of the year…

Felix Auger-Aliassime’s alarming Grand Slam statistic

After Auger-Aliassime was claimed to be at risk of an early exit at the French Open this year, his recent record at Grand Slams was pointed out.

At six of the last seven Grand Slam tournaments, Auger-Aliassime has lost in either the first or second round.

This includes four first round exits, with Auger-Aliassime losing in the first round of the French Open last year to Matteo Arnaldi.

Auger-Aliassime’s only major since Wimbledon 2024 where he did not lose early was at the US Open last year, where he made it all the way to the semifinals.

This is a huge concern for Auger-Aliassime, as he has been seeded at every single one of these Grand Slam tournaments.

Last seven Grand SlamsFelix Auger-Aliassime’s result
Wimbledon 2024First Round – Lost to Thanasi Kokkinakis
US Open 2024First Round – Lost to Jakub Mensik
Australian Open 2025Second round – Lost to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
French Open 2025First Round – Lost to Matteo Arnaldi
Wimbledon 2025Second Round – Lost to Jan-Lennard Struff
US Open 2025Semifinal – Lost to Jannik Sinner (1)

Auger-Aliassime’s best results at the French Open came in 2022 and 2024, both times when he reached the fourth round.

The 25-year-old will be hoping to recreate and even better this at the French Open this year, with Auger-Aliassime playing his first round match against Altmaier on either Monday, May 25 or Tuesday, May 26.
