After a strong start to the 2026 season, Felix Auger-Aliassime’s results on the ATP Tour have somewhat plateaued.

The Canadian began the year by losing in the first round of the Australian Open, retiring from the match due to severe cramping.

Auger-Aliassime quickly found his form in the weeks following, winning the Montpellier Open and reaching the Rotterdam Open final.

He then travelled to the UAE for the Dubai Tennis Championships, where he lost in the quarter-finals to eventual champion Daniil Medvedev.

Last week, the 25-year-old was knocked out in the Indian Wells fourth round by Arthur Fils, despite being seeded ninth at the event.

Auger-Aliassime now has a big point to prove in Miami after performing poorly at the event in recent years.

The Canadian world number eight has struggled to perform at the Miami Masters in recent years.

Remarkably, Auger-Aliassime has failed to progress beyond the third round since 2019.

For a player who normally thrives on quick hard-courts, this record is rather surprising.

In 2019, Auger-Aliassime entered as a qualifier and went on to defeat Casper Ruud, Marton Fucsovics, Hubert Hurkacz, Nikoloz Basilashvili and Borna Coric on his way to the semi-finals.

Since then, he has lost in Miami to John Isner, Miomir Kecmanovic, Francisco Cerundolo, Alexander Zverev and Lorenzo Musetti – all before the fourth round.

Since his return to form at the end of 2025, Auger-Aliassime has been tipped as a possible challenger to the dominance of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

The Canadian star could prove that he is a serious contender with a strong run in Miami this week.

Felix Auger-Aliassime’s Miami Masters draw

Following the release of the Miami Open draw, Felix Auger-Aliassime has the opportunity to advance past the third round of the event for the first time in seven years.

Seeded seventh at the event, Auger-Aliassime has received a first-round bye. In the second round, he will play Marton Fucsovics or a qualifier/lucky loser.

How would you rate Felix Auger-Aliassime’s chances of winning a Grand Slam in 2026?

In the third round, Auger-Aliassime could play Arthur Rinderknech, who was a finalist at the 2025 Shanghai Masters.

From there, Auger-Aliassime’s draw becomes trickier. If he were to reach the fourth round, he could play defending Miami Masters champion Jakub Mensik.

If the 25-year-old were to reach the quarter-finals, a meeting with Indian Wells champion Jannik Sinner would likely occur.
