Felix Auger-Aliassime produced a stunning comeback on Wednesday, downing Ben Shelton in three sets at the ATP Finals.
The Canadian, a potential dark horse to win the Finals, defeated his American opponent 4-6, 7-6, 7-5 at the Inalpi Arena in Turin.

Auger-Aliassime has impressed throughout the latter portion of the season: reaching the US Open semi-finals, winning the Brussels Open, and appearing in the Paris Masters final.
The 25-year-old’s hopes of winning the title in Turin appeared under threat after being defeated by Jannik Sinner in his first round robin match.
However, he demonstrated immense resilience against Shelton and has consequently achieved a significant 2025 landmark.
Felix Auger-Aliassime has won 40 hard-court ATP-level matches in 2025
As per OptaAce, Felix Auger-Aliassime is the second player after Alex de Minaur to claim 40 wins on hard-court at ATP-level during 2025.
Auger-Aliassime has won 40 hard-court matches at the ATP-level during 2025, while the ‘Demon,’ has won 42.
Jannik Sinner has won 35 hard-court matches at the ATP-level during 2025, while Alcaraz has won 36.
Auger-Aliassime, who now has a record of 1-1 at the Finals, will face Alexander Zverev in his final round robin match.
The Canadian trails Zverev 3-6 in their head-to-head record. However, Auger-Aliassime will be able to take great confidence from their last meeting in the US Open third round, a match the Canadian won 4-6, 7-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Zverev, who faces Jannik Sinner later this evening, defeated Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6 earlier in the week.
Auger-Aliassime could qualify for the semi-finals at the year-ending tournament for the first time, after failing to advance past the group stage in 2022.

Felix Auger-Aliassime’s odd statistic
A rather odd statistic has emerged following Felix Auger-Aliassime’s defeat of Ben Shelton in Turin.
Auger-Aliassime has played five matches at the ATP Finals during his career: he has won two of these matches, and lost three.
As noted by Bastien Fachan, the Canadian has won his two ATP Finals matches against left-handed players – Rafael Nadal and Ben Shelton.
Remarkably, all of the 25-year-old’s losses at the Finals have come against right-handed players: Casper Ruud, Taylor Fritz, and Jannik Sinner.
