Federer wins the GOAT debate as he’s the ‘Lionel Messi of tennis’, according to French legend
Roger Federer is “by far the best” and the debate over who’s the greatest “isn’t just about Grand Slam titles”, according to a player that’s been there and seen it all.
That’s the opinion of Richard Gasquet, a 15 time title winner himself and a man possessing one of the most stunning backhands you are likely to witness.
Gasquet is representing France in this year’s Davis Cup finals where they will be looking to collect their 11th Davis Cup trophy and their first since 2017. Gasquet is nearing the end of his impressive career so isn’t often asked about who he believes is the best of all time.
Having won only two of their 21 encounters Gasquet has no doubt that Roger Federer is the greatest of all time, otherwise known as the GOAT. He said, This is not about Grand Slam titles. Roger Federer is by far the best. It has no equal in history. He is Lionel Messi of tennis.”
Of course it’s debatable as to whether Lionel Messi is the greatest footballer of all time!
