Emma Raducanu has advanced to the Transylvania Open semi-finals after defeating Maja Chwalińska in straight sets.

After defeating Greet Minnen and Kaja Juvan in the previous rounds, Raducanu again rolled to victory in Romania, defeating her Polish opponent 6-0, 6-4.

The British star has been in excellent form in Cluj, despite recently splitting with coach Francisco Roig.

Who should be Emma Raducanu’s next coach?

Raducanu will face Oleksandra Olijnykowa in the next round, before a potential meeting with Anastasia Potapova, Sorana Cirstea, Yue Yuan or Daria Snigur in the final.

The British star is looking to end a five-year drought in Cluj, and her chances of doing so have just increased dramatically.

Emma Raducanu has the opportunity to win her first WTA Tour event in nearly five years

Not since the 2021 US Open has Emma Raducanu won a WTA Tour level title. In fact, the British number one has failed to reach a final since her stunning run in New York.

Raducanu, who recently named her dream mixed doubles partner, has now reached her fourth semi-final since lifting the title in Flushing Meadows – can she go two steps further on this occasion?

The British star has a huge opportunity to do so.

Raducanu came into the tournament as the number one seed and favourite for the title; and with second seed Jacqueline Cristian being knocked out in the second round, the British superstar may never get a better opportunity to end her drought.

The biggest threat to Raducanu’s title hopes may be Sorana Cirstea: the third seed who is defending her title in Cluj.

Cirstea also has extra motivation to win the title, as she is competing in the final Transylvania Open of her career.

Anastasia Potapova will also present a threat, having recently defeated Raducanu in the Australian Open second round.

Raducanu’s impressive statistic

Emma Raducanu has lost only 14 games in three matches on her way to the Transylvania Open semi-finals.

The Brit lost four games to Greet Minnen in the first round and six games against Juvan in the second round.

Raducanu again flexed her title credentials on Thursday, letting only four games slip through her grasp against Chwalińska.

Emma Raducanu won her first Grand Slam too soon – Prove me wrong!

If the 23-year-old continues to perform at this high level, she will almost certainly write her name in the Transylvania Open history books on Sunday.

Raducanu has already recorded her best run in Cluj. In her only other appearance at the event – in 2021 – she reached the quarter-finals after defeating Polona Hercog and Ana Bogdan.

There, she lost to Marta Kostyuk, 2-6, 1-6.
