Emma Raducanu French open 2022

Emma Raducanu thrashed by World no.47 in stunning French Open loss

Emma Raducanu has suffered a difficult loss in her second round match at the French Open after managing to win just two games in the final two sets of her match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich from Belarus.

British star Emma Raducanu is out of the French Open in the second round after succumbing to some spirited and aggressive tennis from journeying pro Aliaksandra Sasnovich in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Raducanu will now have to regroup and refocus for the grass court season after an ultimately unsuccessful clay court season that saw her win just a handful of matches. The young Brit faces a fight to find the form that saw her make it through to the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2021.

After taking the first set in impressive fashion, Raducanu’s game unfolded in blustery conditions against a clever opponent who mixed power with touch to seemingly leave her opponent bereft of options or ideas.

Sasnovitch had only ever reached the second round at Roland Garros which will only add to the hurt for the 12th seed Raducanu, who on paper should have come through the match comfortably. But Raducanu is on a steep learning curve and will now surely relish the chance to return to home soil after a long period of travel since her epic victory at the 2021 US Open
