Emma Raducanu has faced another setback ahead of the North American hard court swing getting underway.
Raducanu reached the Queen’s final last month, which enabled her to climb back up to world number 31 and she was in a seeded position for Wimbledon.
However, the Briton was unable to even take to the court for her home major, as Raducanu withdrew from Wimbledon due to a stress fracture in her right leg.
Raducanu is still unable to compete and her ranking has now suffered as a result of her absence.

Raducanu had already dropped down the rankings after missing Wimbledon, and was the world number 37 prior to the latest update.
Last year, Raducanu reached the semi-finals of the Washington Open, which took place a week earlier in 2025.

However, with Raducanu currently unable to compete, she has now lost 195 points from her run in the U.S. capital last year.
This has caused Raducanu to drop 12 places down the rankings to world number 49, which is her lowest position since May 2025.
Raducanu is not entered into either the Canadian Open or the Cincinnati Open, so is expected to keep falling down the ranks in the coming weeks.

Raducanu is the current British number one, but her latest injury absence means that her reign may not last much longer.
The current British number two is Katie Boulter, who is the current world number 69 and trails Raducanu by 118 points.
Boulter is competing at this year’s Washington Open and could even reclaim her spot as British number one if she reached the quarter-finals at the WTA 500 tournament.

In the first round, Boulter will face American wildcard Ashlyn Krueger, as she looks to bounce back from her disappointment of losing in the first round of Wimbledon.
If Boulter is able to beat Krueger, then she will play against third seed Naomi Osaka.
