Emma Raducanu’s stop-start tennis career hit another roadblock earlier this summer.

The British number one was playing some of her best tennis heading into this year’s Wimbledon Championships; illustrated by her run to the Queen’s Club final.

In a cruel twist of fate, Raducanu suffered a stress fracture in her leg shortly before Wimbledon, forcing her to withdraw.

Renewed concern for Raducanu’s physical health has arisen amid her absence from the entry lists of two major WTA events.

She is also not on the entry list for the Washington Open – she reached the semi-finals of last year’s American event.

Consequently, Raducanu’s earliest point of return is currently the US Open – which starts on August 30.

However, with the Briton withdrawing from the US Open’s two main warm-up events, one has to consider the possibility of Raducanu being unavailable for the last major event of the year.

Raducanu is yet to offer another update on the status of her injury since withdrawing from Wimbledon last month.

“I’ve done everything possible to try to get to the start line tomorrow but after a final scan tonight, the niggle I’ve been managing has developed into a stress fracture and I’ve been medically advised to stop pushing through,” Raducanu said in a statement.

“Playing at Wimbledon, in front of a home crowd, means everything to me, so this is really difficult to process.

“I want to thank you all for your support and encouragement. Especially at a time like this, it is invaluable. I look forward to seeing you when I’m back.”

How many WTA points will Emma Raducanu lose?

During last year’s North American hard-court swing, Raducanu reached the Washington Open semi-finals and made two third-round appearances at the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open.

As a result, she earned 325 WTA ranking points.

Raducanu is now set to lose all of these points amid her impending absence from those three events.

This loss will see Raducanu slide down the WTA rankings; most likely falling outside of the top 60.

Raducanu could fall even further, should she end up withdrawing from the US Open.

She reached the third round of last year’s tournament, earning 130 ranking points.
