Emma Raducanu continues to climb up the rankings despite her second-round exit in the 2025 Korea Open.
Raducanu picked the Korea Open over the Billie Jean King Cup, but the star won just one match at the tournament.
After defeating Jaqueline Cristian in the first round, Raducanu narrowly lost a three-set match against Barbora Krejcikova.
Despite the early exit, the British No. 1 has managed to achieve something she’s not managed since August 2022.

Emma Raducanu reaches highest WTA ranking for over three years
The British No. 1’s second-round performance in the Korea Open has ensured her highest ranking for over three years.
After the rankings have refreshed, Raducanu sits at World No. 32 in the WTA rankings, which is enough to ensure seeded entry for Grand Slams.
The star hoped to achieve the ranking ahead of the US Open to ensure a kind draw at Flushing Meadows, but came up short.
Raducanu will be hoping to keep herself nestled inside the top 32 on the WTA Tour’s Asian leg, which could be a busy time for the British star.
Beijing is next for the British No. 1 with the WTA 1000 China Open and it will likely be followed up with a first-time appearance at the Toray Pan Pacific Open, a WTA 500 event held in Tokyo from October 20.
Entry into the Hong Kong Open, which Raducanu missed last year due to a foot injury, could also be on the cards for the Brit.
Good performances at these three tournaments will ensure seeded entry into the Australian Open in January 2026.
Emma Raducanu’s China Open draw
Raducanu has been handed tough draws in 2025, with early tournament matches against the likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, and Amanda Anisimova.
The Brit’s bad luck has continued into the China Open despite the star getting a bye into the second round.
Raducanu will likely play Donna Vekic in round two, who will have to beat a qualifier to ensure a match with the Brit.
Vekic is a former Wimbledon semi-finalist and reached a career high of World No. 17 earlier this year after the Australian Open.
Raducanu is also in the same section as Jessica Pegula, whom she could meet in the third round, and Naomi Osaka, who could be her quarter-final opponent.
