Emma Raducanu has been given an incredibly tough draw at her next tournament, following her health scare at the Wuhan Open.

Raducanu was struck by the heat in Wuhan and the British No. 1 was forced to retire against Ann Li in the first round.

The British star has seen a resurgence in form, and Raducanu has been rewarded with a rise in the WTA Tour rankings.

Following her fateful time at the Wuhan Open, Raducanu has been issued with some even more bad news in Asia.

Emma Raducanu given tough start at the 2025 Ningbo Open

There was uncertainty about whether Raducanu would continue to play the Asian leg following her Wuhan Open woes, but the star has been confirmed for the 2025 Ningbo Open.

The British No. 1 has been drawn against Zhu Lin in the opening round match, and she’ll play a top five player if she manages to navigate past the hometown hero.

Raducanu will play Mirra Andreeva in the second round of the Ningbo Open, a player she is yet to play on the WTA Tour.

The teenager has been one of the breakout stars of the tournament, having won two WTA 1000 tournaments in 2025.

The Dubai and Indian Wells winner has not had the best time of it in Asia, losing to Sonay Kartal at the China Open and Laura Siegemund in Wuhan, but she’s still a formidable opponent.

Who else is in Emma Raducanu’s side of the draw?

Raducanu’s woes extend further than being drawn against Andreeva in round two as several high seeds are in her half of the draw.

The British No. 1 could also play Ekaterina Alexandrova, who has just cracked the top 10, and eighth seed Liudmila Samsonova.

The tournament will also feature several Grand Slam winners, including Elena Rybakina and Sofia Kenin, despite none of the top four playing the tournament.

Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, and Coco Gauff are not going to be featured in the Chinese tournament after confirming their place in the WTA Finals.
