Most recently, the British star was defeated 1-6, 1-6 by Amanda Anisimova in the Indian Wells third round.

While Raducanu has been taking time to recover from her illness, her compatriots have been performing at the highest level in Melbourne.

Now Raducanu has the perfect opportunity to right a wrong from 2025.

Despite the absence of Emma Raducanu, Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal and Francesca Jones, the British team defeated Australia 3-1 and have advanced to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.

Mika Stojsavljevic, 17, began proceedings by defeating world number 76 Talia Gibson 7-6, 7-5.

Harriet Dart, the world number 173, then upset Kimberley Birrell in the second rubber, winning the contest 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Dart and Jodie Burrage completed the upset by defeating Storm Hunter and Ellen Perez 6-3, 6-4 in the doubles rubber.

Great Britain’s 3-1 victory over Australia in the Billie Jean King Cup

Emma Raducanu now has the opportunity to correct her mistake from last year.

Raducanu decided against competing in the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup Finals, instead choosing to focus on WTA Tour events and developing her relationships with ex-coach Francisco Roig.

However, this decision proved to be a mistake after suffering an early exit at the Korea Open.

When in her best form, Raducanu remains Great Britain’s most fearsome player; and she must consider taking her talents to Shenzhen this autumn for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.

Raducanu has the opportunity to make herself a hero in Shenzhen by ending Great Britain’s long wait for a BJK Cup title.

Emma Raducanu’s last Billie Jean King Cup appearance

Raducanu made her BJK Cup debut in 2024 during Great Britain’s qualifying tie against France.

Raducanu was an instrumental figure in Britain’s 3-1 victory, defeating Carolina Garcia and Diane Parry.

In the BJK Finals, Raducanu continued to display impressive form, defeating Germany’s Jule Niemeier and Canada’s Rebecca Marino.

In the semi-finals, Raducanu defeated Viktoria Hruncakova 6-4, 6-4. However, she was unable to prevent her nation’s 1-2 loss to Slovakia.

“We’re all absolutely gutted,” said Captain Anne Keothavong after Great Britain’s defeat, as per the Lawn Tennis Association.

“We came into this event really believing that we had a good shot at it but unfortunately, we came up short.

“Overall, I feel really proud of this team, not just for their efforts in Malaga but all the previous ties to take us to this stage.”
