Kirilenko is ranked 38th in the world and was a runner-up in Barcelona earlier this year but her Polish opponent closed out a 6-4 6-4 victory in Fes.

Domachowska, ranked 109th, was more consistent on her serve and on her returns as she moved into the second round.

Sixth seed Ekaterina Makarova also reached the second round with a 7-6 (7/5) 6-4 defeat of Ioana Raluca Olaru.
