Daniil Medvedev finished his season incredibly strongly as he teased a return to the ATP top 10 as 2025 drew to a close.

Medvedev suffered through some extremely poor form throughout the season, including first round exits at Wimbledon and Roland Garros, but he enjoyed a resurgence at the latter end of the season.

The Russian star started working with Thomas Johansson after the US Open, which saw an impressive upturn in form.

Medvedev won his first title in two years in Almaty and he also reached the semi-finals of the China Open and the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters.

The star’s prospects have rapidly turned around ahead of the 2026 season, where he is now expected to challenge the elite of the ATP Tour.

Daniil Medvedev practices with Manas Dhamne

Medvedev will return to tennis at the World Tennis League, where he will team with Rohan Bopanna, Magda Linette and Sahaja Yamalapalli at the Indian exhibition event.

Ahead of the event, the world number 13 has trained with one of India’s brightest prospects on the ATP Tour, Manas Dhamne.

Dhamne is currently ranked World No. 616 and he’s spent much of the year playing ITF events in Spain, Tunisia, and India.

The 17-year-old played the qualifying stages of the ATP 100 event, the Madrid Open, but lost in the first round to Luca Nardi.

What do players hope to gain from playing in exhibition matches? Do you think it’s only for financial gain?

“For me, there’s too much irrelevant tennis at times in the calendar.”

Medvedev reached the quarter-finals of that event, defeating Juan Martin Cerundolo, Brandon Nakashima, and Laslo Djere.

Daniil Medvedev confirms where he will start his 2026 season

Medvedev will be hoping to continue the form he ended 2025 with into 2026 and he’s already locked in his first tournament.

The Russian will play the Brisbane International ahead of the first Grand Slam of the year at the Australian Open.

Medvedev has not played the ATP 250 tournament since 2019, when he reached the final of the Australian competition.

Who will win the 2026 men’s Australian Open?

He defeated an all-star list of Andy Murray, Milos Raonic, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga before losing to Kei Nishikori in the final.

No other men have been yet been confirmed for the tournament, but Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka, and Madison Keys will play in the women’s draw.
