Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have been near-unbeatable on the ATP Tour for the best part of two seasons.
Sinner and Alcaraz have shared the last eight Grand Slams, with Novak Djokovic’s victory at the 2023 US Open the last time someone else won a major tournament.
Alcaraz and Sinner have left little else for the rest of the ATP Tour as the pair won a further 14 ATP titles between them in 2025.
Former American Grand Slam winner Coco Vandeweghe has predicted just how long the pair’s dominance will last.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner could continue for ‘the next five years’
Vandeweghe is not convinced that any current player on the ATP Tour has what it takes to compete with Alcaraz and Sinner.
Carlos Alcaraz WILL complete the Career Grand Slam before Jannik Sinner – discuss…
“For there to be someone consistently challenging Alcaraz and Sinner, I think it might not happen in the next five years.
“Of the field that currently exists, I would predict it would be a player who is still working on a complete game and isn’t fully formed.”
The likes of Joao Fonseca and Jack Draper have been touted to challenge Sinner and Alcaraz, but the Brazilian’s age and the Brit’s fitness issues have shrouded that in doubt for the time being.
Only one player other than Alcaraz managed to defeat Sinner in 2025, with Alexander Bublik’s victory at the Halle Open the outlier. Sinner did lose to Tallon Griekspoor, but it was via a walkover due to injury.
Alcaraz, meanwhile, was beaten by several other stars, including Cameron Norrie at the Paris Masters and David Goffin at the Miami Open.
Casper Ruud agrees with CoCo Vandeweghe’s claim
Casper Ruud is one of the players who will be wanting to break into the Alcaraz and Sinner duopoly, but he has also suggested it could be years from now.
Who would you like to see become Carlos Alcaraz’s new coach?
Speaking on Greg Rusedski’s podcast, he said: “I still believe that in the next five to 10 years we will see more Grand Slam champions.
“I think there will be more guys who will challenge Sinner and Alcaraz, and I hope to be one of them.”
Ruud has reached three Grand Slam finals, but he is yet to claim his first major tournament. He lost to Alcaraz in the final of the 2022 US Open, which earned the Spaniard his first major.
