British number two Cameron Norrie put on a show as he stunned Carlos Alcaraz to advance at the final ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year.
After defeating Sebastien Baez in the first round, few could have expected Norrie to beat the world number one.
However, he did just that, fighting back from a set down against Alcaraz to claim a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Alcaraz expressed his disappointment after the match and will now have to see if Jannik Sinner can reclaim the world number spot – which he could do with a deep run in Paris.
The Spaniard, who will lose 90 ATP points, has reacted to his defeat on social media.
Carlos Alcaraz congratulates Cameron Norrie
The gracious character that is Carlos Alcaraz has wished Cameron Norrie the best of luck for the rest of his Paris Masters campaign.
The Spaniard is undoubtedly one of the most polite and well-mannered players on the ATP Tour, and he demonstrated that fact once again on Wednesday.
On X [Twitter], Alcaraz said: “Congratulations Cameron Norrie for the win and good luck for the rest of the tournament!
“See you next year, Paris!”
As for the match itself, Cameron Norrie demonstrated why he is a threat against every single player on the ATP Tour.
Remarkably, the Brit has won three of his last five meetings against Alcaraz [the Spaniard leads their head-to-head 5-3.]
Despite failing to land 60 per cent of his first serves against Alcaraz, Norrie managed to win 79 per cent of those points.
As per Sofascore, Norrie also saved four of Alcaraz’s five break-point opportunities, while winning 60 per cent of his second serve points.
Comparatively, Alcaraz saved five of Norrie’s seven break-point opportunities, while winning 59 per cent of his second serve points.

Cameron Norrie’s social media post after defeating Carlos Alcaraz
Cameron Norrie, the world number 31, has posted a four-word message on social media following his titanic battle against Alcaraz.
On Instagram, Norrie said: “I want to be here.”
In the next round, Norrie will face Valentin Vacherot, who defeated Arthur Rinderknech 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 on Wednesday.
Vacherot made history earlier this month, becoming the lowest-ranked player [#204] to win a Masters 1000 title when he triumphed against Rinderknech in the Shanghai Masters final.
