Taylor Fritz has recorded only one victory against Carlos Alcaraz during his career – at the 2025 Laver Cup.

The American, ranked sixth in the world, performed superbly to defeat Alcaraz 6-3, 6-2 in San Francisco, California.

Since then, Alcaraz has defeated the American twice: in the Japan Open final and during the ATP Finals round robin stage.

The pair could meet again at the 2026 Laver Cup, following the news of their participation in next year’s event.

The Laver Cup will see two of tennis’ biggest stars return in 2026.

On Tuesday morning, the tournament revealed that both Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz will play at the 2026 Laver Cup event, which will be held in London.

The announcement was made shortly after Carlos Alcaraz’s confirmation of his Davis Cup Finals withdrawal.

If the pair do meet in London, Alcaraz will hope to avenge his 2025 Laver Cup loss to Fritz, and help Team Europe win the Laver Cup for a sixth time.

Team World won the 2025 event following superb outings from the likes of Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz and Joao Fonseca.

Team World have won three Laver Cup titles, while Team Europe have won five.

Carlos Alcaraz’s first Laver Cup victory

In 2024, Carlos Alcaraz participated in his first Laver Cup event.

After losing his first match in doubles while paired with Alexander Zverev, Alcaraz defeated Ben Shelton in singles and teamed up with Casper Ruud to defeat Shelton and Frances Tiafoe in doubles.

Alcaraz clinched the tie for Team Europe on day three, defeating Taylor Fritz 6-2, 7-5.
