Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have been far and away the best players on the ATP Tour this season.

The two men split the 2025 Grand Slams evenly and Alcaraz and Sinner look nailed-on to meet in the final of the ATP Finals.

Sinner and Alcaraz have built up a huge gap at the top of the ATP Tour rankings, with over 5000 points the difference between Sinner in second and Alexander Zverev in third.

The two men have shown little signs of stopping their dominance, but ATP president Andrea Gaudenzi has named two players he believes could stop them.

Joao Fonseca and Jack Draper touted at Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s true competitors

Gaudenzi spoke to Sky Sports about Sinner and Alcaraz’s dominance in 2025 and he believes they will not always be on the top of the ATP Tour.

The ATP president named Jack Draper and Joao Fonseca as two players he believes can topple them in future seasons.

He said: “Obviously, when they get a little bit older, it would be nice to get some newcomers coming in and challenging them like Fonseca or Draper.

“I don’t think a tennis player would ever lose belief of having a chance [of beating Sinner and Alcaraz]. These players can’t be at the top of their game every single time; there will be instances where they might be injured or their game is lowered.

“Tennis is a peculiar sport because on that day, anybody can beat anybody, really. They’ve been very dominant but that doesn’t mean they can maintain that level.”

Both Draper and Fonseca have achieved breakout years in 2025, with Fonseca winning two titles in his maiden season. The Brazilian won the Argentina Open and the Swiss Indoors this term.

ATP president heaps praise on Jack Draper

Draper may have criticised the ATP Tour schedule, but its president is still a huge fan of the British number one.

Gaudenzi was incredibly complimentary about Draper in his Sky Sports interview with Jonathan Overend. Asked if Draper can challenge Sinner and Alcaraz, he said: “Absolutely. He’s a great player.

“He has a great image. Definitely, we need a strong British player; it’s a great market. It’s a long tradition in tennis. It’s definitely going to be great for tennis. I’m looking forward to his comeback.”

Draper won Indian Wells this year, as well as reaching the final at the Madrid Open, which earned him a career-high ranking of world number four.

The British star will return to tennis at the UTS Grand Finals in December, and he’s also been announced for the United Cup alongside Emma Raducanu.
