Cameron Norrie has won his first match at the Metz Open, defeating Frenchman Valentin Royer.
The Brit recently stunned Carlos Alcaraz at the Paris Masters, and was sent a heartwarming message by the Spaniard after the match.

He was then defeated by Shanghai Masters champion Valentin Vacherot, who exited the tournament at the quarter-final stage.
On Monday, Norrie survived a scare against world number 56 Valentin Royer, eventually defeating the Frenchman 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.
With victory against Royer, Norrie notched his 31st ATP Tour win of 2025.
Cameron Norrie has won more ATP Tour matches in 2025 than Jack Draper
British number one Jack Draper shot up the ATP rankings at the start of the year following his triumph in Indian Wells and a final appearance at the Madrid Open.
However, after rising to world number four in June, the Brit has fallen to world number 11.
This is because Draper has been unable to compete for a large portion of 2025.
The 23-year-old did not compete between Wimbledon and the US Open due to a left arm issue, and this same issue forced him to pull out from the US Open and withdraw from ATP Tour play for the rest of 2025.
Draper picked up his 30th and final ATP Tour victory of 2025 when he defeated Federico Gomez in the US Open first round.
Cameron Norrie has now overtaken Draper’s 2025 total following his victory against Royer – the Brit has now won 31 singles matches on the ATP Tour this year.
Draper has a record of 30-9 this season, while Norrie’s record is 31-25.

Cameron Norrie’s next opponent
Norrie will face another Frenchman in the next round: Arthur Cazaux, who defeated Adrian Mannarino 6-3, 7-6 in the first round.
Norrie will be able to draw upon his recent experience of playing Cazaux, having defeated the Frenchman at the Shanghai Masters.
The winner of Norrie and Cazaux will face either Dan Added, Kyrian Jacquet, or Luca Van Assche in the quarter-finals.
Norrie, seeded seventh, could face fourth seed Flavio Cobolli in the semi-finals. Cobolli is set to play Lorenzo Sonego in the second round.
