Toby Samuel wins first Challenger title in Egypt
Toby Samuel has impressed on the ITF Tour in 2025, winning three different titles in as many months at the latter end of the season.
The 23-year-old British star has now made the step up and won his first Challenger title in Soma Bay, Egypt.
Samuel defeated two British stars in the semi-final and final to lift his maiden trophy on the Challenger circuit.
He beat Charlie Robertson and Jay Clarke at the hardcourt tournament to land himself $60,000 in prize money.

Samuel has jumped to World No. 329 after the victory, which is 75 places higher than his previous ranking high.
What Toby Samuel said after playing Wimbledon qualifying in 2023
Samuel has been plying his trade on the circuit for the past couple of years, but he is still yet to make his Wimbledon debut.
The star beat Antoine Bellier in qualifying, but fell at the next hurdle against Sho Shimabukuro. Speaking to TNT Sports after his victory against Bellier, Samuel confirmed: “It’s one of the best feelings I’ve ever had. It’s my first ever Wimbledon, playing against a great player.

“I think I went out there with no pressure, just played my game and played loose, and in the end I came out on top – which is amazing.

Samuel is yet to play Wimbledon, but there’s every chance of a wild card for next year’s event if he continues his supreme form.
