Novak Djokovic Australian visa is cancelled again

Novak Djokovic will not be able to play in the Australian Open as the Australian Minister for immigration decides to cancel his visa

Alex Hawke, the Australian Minister for Immigration has said that he is exercising his right to cancel the visa awarded to Novak Djokovic on health and good order grounds

The formal letter states that the Australian Government is firmly committed to protecting Australia’s borders from COVID 19. and that it was in the public interest to cancel the Serb’s visa.

Djokovic will now not be able to enter Australia for 3 years unless there are “compelling reasons in the national interest”

Djokovic had hoped to be able to play in the 2022 Australian Open after successfully beating the original visa cancellation and the draw for the men’s singles had been made with the reigning champion seeded 1.

The public opinion on his continued stay in Australia was seemingly split between those who felt the Serb didn’t deserve entry to the country as he was still unvaccinated against COVID and those who felt he had complied with every requirement asked of him.
