Bartoli forced to quit in Cincinnati
World No.13 Marion Bartoli is out of the Cincinnati tennis championships after quitting her first round match on Tuesday in dramatic fashion.
The Frenchwoman, who reached the final at Wimbledon in 2007, was the top seed in Cincinnati.
Bartoli was trailing American Jamea Jackson 6-7, 2-2 in their first round match when she pulled out with abdominal pain.
That leaves Russian Nadia Petrova as the favourite for the title in Ohio, and the second seed looked impressive during a 6-3, 6-0 victory over compatriot Galina Voskoboeva.
Another two seeds went through to the second round fifth seed Amelie Mauresmo from France and sixth-seeded Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak at the Cincinnati tennis championships.
