Baltacha wins in Michigan

The 26-year-old lost the first set 7-5 to the Czech top seed but fought back to take the second set 6-2.

Baltacha, who reached the third round of the Australian Open, then took the deciding set 6-3 and moves up to number 70 in the world rankings, her highest position to date.

She will now take part in this week’s WTA event in Memphis.
