Australian Open seeds announced

We’re just seven days away from our latest fix of Grand Slam tennis and to mark the occasion, organisers of the Australian Open have released the seeds for the main draw to whet our appetite.

For those of you who follow the rankings as regularly as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga comes up against Roger Federer – an awful lot these days ain’t it? – there are no great surprises. British hope Murray at world No.4 is, unsurprisingly, seeded fourth despite making the final for the last two years. In the women’s draw Caroline Wozniacki takes, you guessed it, top spot despite having never made the Australian Open final. Even so, the history books can never be relied on in the heat of battle, so cast an eye on the seeded line-ups and clue up on the big shots hoping to take this year’s draw by storm.
